SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Lafayette and the Rights of Man
DESCRIPTION:Almost 250 years ago\, against the wishes of King Louis XVI a young Marquis de Lafayette disembarked a ship near Georgetown\, South Carolina onto American soil with the hope of helping to bring liberty to the American colonies. His bravery and leadership in battle made him a hero to the young country and a lifelong friend with many of our founding fathers.  \nFifty years later Lafayette returned with much celebration to the shores of our country. As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of that trip\, Bill Davies\, Vice Chairman of South Carolina’s 250th Anniversary State Commission\,  will help take us through this remarkable man’s life and his time spent in South Carolina. \nYou bring your lunch and we will provide the learning opportunity!

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: “How to Study a Battle”
DESCRIPTION:Joe Long\, Curator of Education at South Carolina’s Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum\, comes back to the Rev War Visitor Center on the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill to help understand what really happened. Use the skills taught in this Lunch & Learn to read\, study\, and evaluate other Revolutionary battles as we jump into the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. \nThe Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the earliest Revolutionary battles fought in Boston\, Massachusetts. Though the colonists were defeated (spoiler)\, it did not dishearten them\, instead it encouraged them to keep fighting against the better trained\, better equipped British army because the cause was worthy.
